About Liminal Nook

Liminal Nook is a Greensboro-focused nonprofit community project built to help people discover recurring, welcoming local events without relying on social media algorithms. We believe healthy cities are made from regular, low-barrier gathering spaces: library groups, volunteer days, neighborhood music sessions, public talks, and hobby communities where people can show up consistently and become known.

Our Mission

Our mission is to make social connection easier and more reliable in Greensboro by maintaining a trustworthy, practical directory of high-quality community events. We prioritize events that are public-facing, repeated over time, and open to newcomers. We intentionally focus on opportunities where someone can attend alone and still participate meaningfully.

How We Curate

Liminal Nook combines structured source monitoring with community submissions. We regularly review municipal calendars, library programs, educational institutions, and trusted local third places. Community members can also submit events directly.

  • We favor recurring, relationship-building gatherings over one-off promotions.
  • We verify event details for date, location, and practical attendance info.
  • We tag events by category, age fit, and expected size so residents can filter quickly.
  • We remove clearly misleading, abusive, or low-trust listings.

Who We Serve

We serve Greensboro residents, new arrivals, students, families, and anyone trying to build real community ties. We also support local organizers by giving them a clear channel to publish consistent events and keep details updated. The goal is not just to promote activity, but to improve social belonging and civic participation over time.

Transparency and Contact

We aim to be transparent about how listings are selected and maintained. If your organization wants to manage its own listing, correct an error, or request a change, contact us at elliot@liminalnook.com. You can also review our primary source list on the event sources page.
