The Short Version

We are a local project, not a data broker. We do not sell your personal data. We collect only what we need to run a reliable local events service and prevent abuse.

What We Collect

• If you browse: We collect standard server logs (for example IP address, request path, browser metadata, and timestamp) to keep the site secure and operational.
• If you create an account: We store your username, email address (for recovery), and passkey-related credential data needed for secure login.
• If you submit an event: We store the event details and link them to your user account so you can edit them later.
• If you request SMS updates: We store the phone number you provided along with your consent record, including when and where you opted in.

How We Use Phone Numbers

If you explicitly opt in, we use your phone number only for service-related texts tied to your event submission or organizer support. These texts may include review updates, clarification requests, correction requests, or closely related follow-up. We do not use this program for third-party marketing.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand which pages and features are useful. This helps us improve event discovery and reduce friction in the submission flow. GA4 may collect device/browser information and interaction events such as page views, link clicks, and form interactions.

We do not use advertising pixels such as Facebook Pixel, and we do not sell analytics data. If you prefer, you can use browser privacy controls or content blockers to limit analytics collection.

Cookies and Session Storage

We use session cookies to keep authentication working and protect account security. These are functional cookies and are not used to sell targeted ads.

Data Retention

• Account and event data: Kept while your account is active or until you request deletion.
• Operational logs: Retained for a limited period for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.
• Analytics data: Retained according to our GA4 property settings.

When We Share Data

We share data only with service providers needed to run the site (for example infrastructure or analytics vendors), or when required by law. We do not share your personal data for ad resale.

Mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional use.

SMS Choices

You can opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP. You can request help by replying HELP. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

External Links

We link to many other websites (libraries, venues, ticket pages). Once you leave Liminal Nook, their privacy policies apply, not ours.
